In Goma, a moment to breathe, reconnect and heal

As part of its psychosocial support project supported by Urgent Action Fund-Africa (UAF-Africa), Waza And Act organized a music therapy session at Mawe Hai Space, facilitated by Renaître Grands Lacs/HAFENIS. Nineteen participants, including 18 women and one young girl affected by the crisis, took part in the session.

The session began with breathing exercises, followed by songs chosen by the participants themselves. Through music, sharing and dance, each participant was able to express herself at her own pace. Some, who were initially reserved, gradually joined in the singing and conversations. Others simply used the moment to relax and enjoy being surrounded by others.

Several participants expressed their wish to experience such a session again. Their feedback encourages us to continue creating safe spaces where women and girls can come together, listen to one another and support each other.
